Advancing organic cotton production: Monitoring and Evaluation support

The Organic Cotton Accelerator (OCA) is taking a leading and proactive role in driving the changes and transformations needed in the cotton supply chain by making it a more transparent, responsible, and resilient system that prioritizes farmer prosperity and sustainability. As a rapidly expanding multistakeholder organization, OCA’s farmer support program has already made significant strides in improving the cotton industry’s impact. With a robust presence and ongoing efforts in various countries, notably India and Pakistan, OCA has successfully empowered over 70,000 farmers since its inception in 2016. These farmers are equipped to cultivate sustainable organic cotton using health-conscious methods. In this endeavour, SmartFarming contributes significantly. Using data analysis techniques, SmartFarming extracts valuable insights from the farm data collected by OCA’s stakeholders. These insights facilitate informed decision-making and strategic planning. SmartFarming has also developed dynamic evaluation and data visualization dashboards tailored to the Farm Programme’s needs that empower OCA to communicate successes and impact effectively, promoting transparency and stakeholder engagement. Additionally, working closely with OCA, SmartFarming is developing a user-centered data collection tool. This innovative tool is designed to meet the unique needs of stakeholders involved in various project phases and locations. By addressing these distinct requirements, the tool ensures comprehensive and accurate data collection directly from the fields. This solution underscores SmartFarming’s commitment to creating tools that directly benefit stakeholders and optimize project operations.
